I have a shop rat who is 74 years old that will use an impact wrench to put on tires on the race car behind my back, despite me telling him not to. Just one of a few things he feels he knows more than me on, and will sneak a quick short cut. He's not fully to blame, as the car was out of my hands for 5 years.
Anyway, for the few who don't know, if you use an impact to tighten lug nuts on aluminum hubs and steel screw in lugs, you will gall out the threads in the aluminum hubs. When changing the front wheels and tires on the Vitamin C, we noticed some on the studs were loose. Closer inspection had some nit tighten because the thread in the hub were galled.
I ordered a set (10) of 5/8-18 studs to replace the 9/16, removed and disassembled the hubs, cleaned up and took to my local machine shop to drill and Rapp for the 5/5" studs
